| A large goblet dating to c1740. The exceptionally large round funnel bowl is Dutch copper wheel engraved with the individual arms of the seven provinces of the Netherlands. There is also a matted band to the rim and below the armorials a further engraved ‘tented’ band. The base of the bowl has flat polished printies and cut and notched arches with further faceting below this. The stem has a variety of hollow blown facetted and polished knops. The large domed and folded foot is facet cut to the upper dome and has a rough pontil. Soda glass and in perfect condition with just a couple of small thin bubbles in the fold of the foot and a ‘soft’ burst bubble to the foot under surface. The metal of the glass has a very slight purple tinge. Height: Just over 8 ½” Rim Diameter: 3 7/8” Foot Diameter: 4 5/8” Though this glass has Dutch engraving and subject; the glass itself most probably originates from Saxony. | ||
