C1740 Large 8 ½” English Georgian Tear Stem Goblet
A large English Georgian wine goblet dating to C1740. A trumpet bowl with drawn plain stem containing a well positioned ‘tear’; mounted on a conical folded foot with rough pontil. Lead glass with a good dark tone and silky feel to the metal and in fine condition with good tooling marks and the odd mineral inclusion expected for this period. Height: Just over 8 ½” Rim: Just under 4 3/8” Foot: 4” A wonderful glass for the collector or wine connoisseur who likes to use period glasses occasionally.
