| A good sized Georgian wine glass dating to C1770. A large round funnel bowl over a double series opaque twist stem comprising a pair of heavy spiral threads around a solid inner cable. A conical foot with rough pontil. Lead glass and in great original condition. There is a seed which causes a slight ‘bump’ and other artefacts from production to the foot rim together with good tooling marks; demonstrating that the foot hasn’t been tampered with. Good to see. Height: 6 3/8” Rim: 2 5/8” Foot: 2 7/8” The attractive and bright stem form is unusual but not rare and can be compared with the stem shown at plate 1,209 in Bickerton. A good glass for personal use or display. This glass was probably made in the same glassworks as my item P18DG 176 and would make a good matched pair with it; though there are naturally fractional variations in dimensions due to hand made production. | ||
