| An English Georgian wine glass dating to C1765. The ovoid bowl with engraved cross hatched drapery border; the base with rare petal moulding. The double series opaque twist stem comprising two thick spiral threads outside a lace twist. A conical foot with rough pontil. Good condition; with some unintentional air attaching to one of the outer threads in the stem. Height: 5 3/8” Rim: 2” Foot: Just over 2 5/8” Anything other than rib or flute moulding on an opaque twist glass is unusual; petal moulding is particularly scarce and it is reasonable to assume that glasses with this bowl type are the product of one particular glasshouse/chair. This is one of a group of five identical glasses; the other four sold as a set, my item P18DG 140. | ||
