C1740 English Georgian Teared Plain Stem Wine Glass
An excellent English Georgian wine glass dating to C1740. A tall and wide bell bowl with ‘teared’ solid base; over a stout and shorter than usual plain stem and wide conical folded foot with rough pontil. Lead glass of a nice dark steely blue tone and in great condition with the odd small inclusion and bubble; great tooling marks and striation. Height: 6 3/16” Rim: 2 ¾” Foot: 3 3/8” A particularly nicely proportioned stocky glass with a strong presence.
