Painted tin country tole tray with seam 1820's Filley
This American paint decorated tin tray is a nice large size, 17" by 12" and has the seam in the middle that tells you that it was made before tin could be rolled in large pieces. The tray is dry with no finish over it, it has some flaking of paint and a little rust...see all 6 pictures. It is hard to find painted tin that doesn't have some problems because not many painters in the early 1800's understood that tin should be primed before painting. The tray has a very country look and is wonderful with old painted cupboards. This tray is easy on your eyes. It was painted by Oliver Filley in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
