| Antique cloth doll with embroidered face and an early pink calico dress. She has a primitive look with bold stitches in brown floss defining her eyes, nose and mouth. Her astrakhan hair is held on with the same strong stitches. I think she may have an older face under this one..see pictures, but I love this one and don't want to check. She is all one piece so her arms and legs don't bend much but this in not uncommon in little dolls and they were easy to hold in one hand. Her clothes have been on her a long time but I doubt they are original because this doll looks and feels like she was some little child's companion for many years and probably has had many dresses put on and off. She does sit but not really easily. This is a really nice country doll from 1890-1900. She is machine and hand sewn and just 9" tall. | ||
