Antique brown calico wall pocket sewing roll X Large
1830's wonderful brown calico wall pocket. This is not a sewing roll but was meant to hang by a loop at the top that is no longer there but you can see the sturdy attachment that are still on the back. The stitches are so tiny that you almost need to have a magnifying glass to see them. There are two flat front pockets with MOP buttons and then at the bottom a sewing bag with a draw string. The bottom of the bag is gathered with tiny little pleats...see picture. The bag is in almost perfect condition with just three of four tiny holes and they are on the back. A trick that I have been doing for years and I will pass on to you, is when I want to hang something like this on the wall or like it just did on my cupboard, I use common pins and a hammer. The pins hold for years and hardly leave a trace on the wood or plaster and are kind to the fabric. This great pocket is 18" long and 7" wide and makes quite a statement.
