Large boy doll antique interesting clothes
A most unusual boy doll, 19th C with hand knit clothes and hunting belt around his waist. His face is embroidered and he has a big smile. He has a lot of corn rows of blond hair on his head. His face has lost several layers of the stocking material but there seems to be many layers. He has seeds for eyes with raised embroidery holding them in. He has a U shaped nose and embroidered mouth with floss teeth. On the sides of his head is has sewn ears. He is a true rag doll stuffed with all kinds of fabric that can be seen on his legs where there are some holes. I don't think his clothes have ever been taken off but I pulled down his knit pants and it gives a good idea of his body. The belt around his waist is a very nice leather with loops for bullets that are there and my husband says they are real. He also has a knife with a sheath on his belt. The knife pulls out and has the carved head of a dog on the handle and the knife is sharp. This doll is heavy and solid and ready for some cold weather hunting trip. He is 20" tall and pretty amazing. Circa 1870-80
