This a very nice early Pennsylvania pencil face cloth doll. The dress she has on may very well be original. It is a great wool homespun with a cotton check red and white pattern top. The homespun skirt is hemmed with the same cotton check, see photo. The dress is shredding but is still wonderful. The doll is equally as nice. I love it when the are really heavy and substantial. She is all hand sewn, and a nicely shaped body and arms that look like they are meant for serious work! She us cotton stuffed. Her hands are mitten shaped and her feet are long and turn up just a little bit. She sits nicely and is well behaved. She is 16" tall and is circa 1870-80.
