Outstanding American carved wooden ventriloquist doll from the late 1800's. He is 35" tall, straw stuffed body, hand carved wooden face with a moveable bottom jaw. He has astrakhan hair, carved ears, embedded glass eyes, nailed on horse hair eyebrows, carved nose, and lips and teeth and tongue. His bottom lip, teeth and tongue are a moveable, operated by a lever in the back of his neck. His face has some old black paint touch up. He has nicely carved wooden hands. His clothes are all original with the exception of the red shirt that I think may have been added later. He has on a striped blue, red and white shirt, course woolen knicker pants, knit tall socks and high button shoes. His fabric ticking body is stuffed with straw. He is an amazing folk art black doll that is as original as you will ever find.
