This is a very quiet doll, she looks and takes everything in but has no comment. She has a white body and back stockinette head that has been on there a long time. I have had many dolls like this that started out as white dolls and were made into black dolls. She has embroidered eyebrows and shoe button eyes. A few stitches for a nose and red and black floss for a mouth. Her hair is braided black yarn that has turned golden brown over years exposed to sunlight. She is firmly stuffed with cotton but isn't hard. She isn't jointed but she does sit. She was wearing this wonderful homespun linen dress with cotton accents and trim when I bought her. If not original it has been on her a long time. It buttons down the back with nice early big mother of pearl buttons. She is 21" tall and is circa 1890-1900.
