This is a very unusual naïve handmade cloth doll with painted face, arms and legs. There is no machine stitching, she must have had painted features at one time but not any more. She has a very slender body made with fine linen. She has on a pair of white pantaloons, an off petticoat, a chemise, and a blue calico dress. All are old and appropriate but not original. Her head is one with her body, she does not have a shoulder plate but painted fabric on a regular cloth doll. She had jointed arms and legs so sits nicely. Her face has a very nice shaped face and raised chin and nose with the hand sewing showing on the nose itself. She is a quiet doll that fits in anywhere. 21" tall and circa 1880.
