| Superb Arts and Crafts look in this early Van Briggle Vase. Measuring 9" high and 6" wide at the base. Vase is decorated with broad leaves under a deep mulberry matt glaze with green overspray on sections of the leaves. No chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing or repairs; however, the bottom of the vase show 2 stilt/tripod pulls made at the time of manufacture. Base of the vase contains the Van Briggle mark and is glazed over with the same glaze as the body of the vase. The vase is from the 1907-1912 time frame when Anne Van Briggle was operating the pottery. This vase has finisher marks and the design number incised, consistent with '07-12 pieces. See page 19, plate 27 of the book Van Briggle Art Pottery by Sasicki. Also, Scott Nelson's book also shows this vase on page 175, design #797, and indicates that Anne Van Briggle was the designer in 1909. Items from this time period are much, much harder to find especially in the large sizes and were definitely produced in smaller quantities. Now is the time to obtain the piece that will be the center of your art pottery collection. | |
