Fine and Rare Cortland Side Slat Chair - Stickley Era

Very rare chair from the famed Cortland Cabinet Co., an historic NY manufacturer of the Arts & Crafts movement. These massive chairs made of heavy quartered oak members, side slats to the floor, and large chisel point through tenens exiting the sides of the top and bottom front rails give these pieces great esteem among today's collectors. The piece has been recently upholstered in Grey suede-like material. The chair retains its original finish with great patina and has no breaks, splits, or repairs and measures 38" high by 31" wide and 23" deep with a chair seat width of 21" and depth of 23". We have had to check many prominent Arts & Crafts auction catalogs and were required to go back to Fontaines Craftsman Auction from Sept. 98, lot 542-543 to find the last Cortlands sold at $1500 for each rocker that matches this chair.
