| One of the nicest Handel Sunset palm overlays you can find is this fine bronze Handel Tropical Sunset overlay with rare closed top of palm fonds. This is a larger Tropical Sunset shade as it was originally made for a spider lamp base as opposed to the more often seen open top shades modified for use as a table lamp. The lamp measures 15 1/2" tall and the shade is 9" from side to side, and 10" corner to corner. The lamp has it's original patina, acorn pull, and socket and has been rewired with silk cord. The lamp has six panels with no damage whatsoever to the glass or overlay. The lamp base is also in excellent condition and is the very rare and most desired swamp base with green highlights which brings out superimposed tree and ground forms. When the lamp is lighted it has the most intense red and orange fire coloration one can find in glass. The panels look like a beautiful tropical sunset with colored cirrus clouds. Absolutely beautiful. Both the shade and base are signed HANDEL. | |
