A pair of satin stitch and couched metal thread embroidered rank badges, apparently never mounted on a robe, circa 1880. Each depicts a tiger-cat on a rock over waves, with shrimp, fish, emblems, bats and endless knots. According to John Vollmer this animal signifies and sixth and seventh military rank in the Ch'ing government system. They measure 28cm high X 55cm long, or 11" X 21.5"...

These pottery cups designs were based on bronze or lacquer models now termed ear cups. To achieve the green effect they were molded and then lead glazed. They date to the Han dynasty, approximately 100 B.C. to 100 A.D. Measurements are 4.5cm high X 12.7cm wide X 10.9cm deep. Each has white calcium adhesions and slight amounts of iridescence, all from burial. There are small areas of glaze gapping but no cracks or chips...

A pair of Chinese porcelain globular jars, each decorated with 100 boys at play in famille-rose enamels, c.1880. Each measures 20.5 cm high X 21 cm diameter or 8" X 8 1/4" and has a Kangxi mark on its base. Each has a fitted wood stand and a matching lid. One lid has repaired breaks and both stands have reglued areas.

A well patinated Chinese bronze vase imitating a bronze age Hu, dating to about 1800. It measures 42.1cm high X 30cm X 23cm or 16 1/2" X 12" X 9" and has a very dark brown patina with applied areas of green and red to imitate burial patina. The low relief design with birds, dragons and monster masks is not accurate for such designs on ancient bronzes, so there is some chance it was not made to deceive but as an antiquarian object...

This well cast Chinese bronze tripod censer with body shaped as six conjoined cyma curves dates to about 1700. Two curved handles rise from the flat rim and short neck. The unmarked censer measures 8.5cm high X 12.7cm wide, or 3.3 inches X 4.75 inches. It has a nice patina now, but probably once was polished about 50-100 years ago. There is no damage other than a small nick to the rim's interior about 2mm wide. Metal color is somewhat darker than seen in the images.

A transparent blue glass bottle-vase with incised four character Guangxu mark on the base, and of the period. Measuring 20cm high or 8 inches, the bottle is part of an estate which has a large number of Chinese glass items collected before 1980. The base has numerous shallow scratches and the rim's upper surface has a surface fracture visible in an image. This bottle vase and a few other items offered here are being sold to benefit the Seattle Art Museum.

Decorated in famille-rose enamels this drum shaped box has a Tongzhi mark on its base and dates to about 1870. The design is of boys and two women in gardens on the lid and base, with the interiors plain. It is 12.8cm high X 11.5cm diameter, or 5 inches X 4.5 inches. There is very light wear to the enamels and a footrim chip, visible in one image. Despite the rather crude reign mark, this box appears to date to that reign.

This export pot has an unusual pistol handle set at right angles to the spout. The domed lid has a peach knop. The floral decoration is in gold and blue enamels. It dates to about 1780 and measures 21cm high or 8.5 inches. No damage but light wear to gold, except for spout tip from which the gold is largely worn away.

A large T'zu-Chou stoneware storage jar, 50cm high. This jar has a cream slip and iron-brown decoration of freely drawn leaves It measures 50cm high or 19.5 inches and dates to c. 1550. There is slight staining, wear, chips to the slip in various places and a band of firing spur marks on the shoulder. There are no repairs.
