Ivory netsuke carved as a tumbler, by Ryoshu
A Japanese ivory netsuke finely carved as a tumbler, by Ryoshu, circa 1950-1960. This model is signed in sunken relief between the small himotoshi. The carver is listed in Lazarnick p 886 as from Tokyo and active in the postwar period although born in 1912. Measurements are 2.6cm high X 3.3cm wide. This tumbler is part of a collection at the Crane Gallery of netsuke, okimono and ojime. The netsuke are from three old private collections.
