Japanese elm jizai, 19th century

A Japanese decagonal keyaki jizai or pothook, 19th century. From an old Pacific Northwest collection, this hook has a very dark patina and heavy wear where a rope was slung for suspension of a pot or teapot. It measures 38.5cm long or 15". There is a recent long shallow crack visible in one image.
