A massive Chinese silk birthday presentation hanging, measuring 520cm length, 380cm width, the largest size I've seen of this type! It is dated 1803 Jiaqing 8th year and of the period. It was commissioned by one hundred and eighteen people to honor a group of twenty six elderly gentlemen's birthdays at an important gathering. There is an opening article of one thousand one hundred fifty eight characters embroidered on the hanging. One may wonder how much work has been spent making the item. Overall, it is an important cultural relic. The condition is very good considering its ago. See a similar but much smaller hanging in *Imperial Silks: Ching Dynasty Textiles in the Minneapolis Institute of Art*, p. 981 (last picture).
