Rare Tiffany Sterling Silver Blackberry Bowl
Gorgeous Tiffany sterling silver bowl in the rare Blackberry pattern. Approximately 10" in diameter, 2 3/4" high and weighs approximately 16 ounces. Monogrammed "EVC". Marks include TIFFANY & CO, 14619 MAKERS 196, STERLING SILVER. 925-1000 and the letter C. This mark dates this piece c.1902-1907. Stylized leaves inside the bowl. (see photo) The rim is reticulated and had 3 bunches of blackberries spaced around it. The C stands for Charles T. Cook who was Tiffany's president during this period. According to the book on Tiffany silver flatware Blackberry is one of the most attractive of the not-full-line patterns made by Tiffany. On stylistic grounds they think Edward C. Moore inspired these designs, if he did not actually create them. Only a small amount of serving pieces were made in this pattern. This is the first piece of holloware that I have seen. There is a photo in Carpenter's book of a similar bowl. It is slightly smaller than this one. Look at page 81, plate 81 to see the bowl. Excellent condition.
