| Gorgeous porcelain bird figurine by Boehm of Trenton NJ.Approximately 8 1/2" x 7 1/2". Marked on the bottom with makersmark E, as listed in The Porcelain Art of Edward Marshall Boehm by Reese Palley, Boehm, LIMITED EDITION, Meadowlark, 435, MADE IN U.S.A. According to Palley, The Meadowlark was introduced in 1957, as a limited edition of 750 pieces, under Boehm Studiomark Number 435. The edition was completed in January 1964. Included in the total of 750 were 20 undecorated bisque pieces. The sculpture shows a male standing beside a dandelion and rock, with mushroom. The bird, as befits a Meadowlark, is in full-throated song. The Meadowlark was an early favorite. It was, in fact, the first limited edition to close completely. Photographs of this piece were featured in the mid 1960's in an article in the Saturday Evening Post just prior to completion. Very delicate and in excellent condition. | ||||||||||
