This exciting horse drawn fire engine is clearly in a race against time, but the timelessness of this toy endures. It features a single horse pulling a fire pumper driven by a single fireman. We believe that the paint may be from a very old repaint job but it has, ironically, protected it from rust. The right rear wheel is missing a cap and all wheels are wobbly.
The interior wall under the driver's seat is embossed 1075. We attribute this toy to Shimer, Son & Company, a small turn of the 20th century toy maker which operated from the 1890s - c. 1920 at the latest.
