A fine Chinese export porcelain armorial tea caddy with lid. The family crest dominates both sides and is accented with a ribbon in blue around the base and a thick dark blue trim around the shoulders. The lid is similarly decorated with a naturalistic knop. The glaze contains imperfections from the production process. The enameling on the crest has faded considerably, making it unlikely that we can identify the crest. Condition is excellent. The underside of the tea caddy retains the sticker of the Elinor Gordon was a widely respected authority on Chinese export porcelains. We date this object to the late 18th C. Dimension: 5 1/4" h
