A very fine Japanese porcelain bowl painted in the Imari palette with 4 reserves in the interior alternating between a gold enameled horse under a beautiful flowering tree, and 3 playful prancing horses. The side is decorated with birds, clouds, auspicious things, and diaper devices. The underside retains its previous owner's mark on plastic label. Condition is very good to excellent, with one horse showing some loss of gilding as noted in the photo. Dates to c. 1870.
