Dutch Oude-Loosdrecht Tea Bowl & Saucer, c. 1780

Rare and Unique Dutch Oude-Loosdrecht Porcelain Tea Bowl and Saucer, c. 1780. Colonial decoration of the Cape of Good Hope of scenes of life and customs in miniature paintings in a gold cartouche. Cup is of a standing chieftain with crown, bow and quiver of arrows at river edge. Saucer is titled "Copulatie," woman in white with women encircling her, which means marriage or wedding. Flower sprigs, green borders with twisted pink ribbon and gilt garlands. Excellent condition. Marked under glaze blue M.O.L. with star. Probably a special commission. Saucer, 5 inches; tea bowl, 2 inches.
