Dutch Oude-Loosdrecht Tea Bowl & Saucer, c. 1780

Rare and Unique Dutch Oude-Loosdrecht Porcelain Tea Bowl & Saucer, c. 1780. Colonial decoration of the Cape of Good Hope of scenes of life and customs in miniature paintings in a gold cartouche. Cup has scene with groups of natives waiting arrival of a boat with white men. Saucer has a close-up of boats with white and black men. Excellent condition. Sprigs of flowers, green border with twisted pink ribbon and gilt garlands. Excellent condition. Marked underglaze blue M.O.L. with a star. Probably a special commission for the Dutch East India Co. or a ship's captain. Saucer, 5 inches; cup, 2 inches.
