American Hollow Cut Silhouette by Chamberlain, c. 1810

American Hollow Cut Silhouette Of Phineas Sanderson by William Chamberlain, circa 1810. His work was never signed but can be identified by his distinctive collar treatment on his men. He used a profile machine. Silhouette is of Phineas Sanderson from Woodstock and Bridgewater, Vermont in the last part of the 18th century. He was a member of various regiments and participated and was in the invasion of Canada. Provenance is a available to buyer. (From the Back of The Silhouette) "Phineas Sanderson, great, great-grandfather of Esther and Kathryn Cheney. From Katherine Cheney last of the Cheney family of Concord, N.H. From Helen Cheney Smith of Lebanon to Evelyn Brady, 1973." Original glass and original pressed brass frame. 3 3/4 inches x 3 inches.
