 Imari fish form blue and white porcelain dish

Japan 1700-1740 length 25.5 cm Width 12.5 cm The Shibata Collection at the Kyushu Ceramic Museum has an almost identical fish form dish and with the same underglaze stylized fuku mark surrounded by a double square. Their example is also free form painted, has a raised design for the scales and eye and has a very small chip on the rim, as does this example. They assign the date of 1700-1740. See: part one page 153. Rim 1cm. high.
