An oval English porcelain sugar bowl with the lid and body decorated with blue and magenta bell flowers growing out of gilt plants. The flowers circle both the lid and the body, which has molded ring handles (not working) at the end of the long sides. The knop on the lid is elaborately gilt. Unmarked, but certainly English and from the first quarter of the 19th century. 6 inches tall by 6 inches long by 5 inches wide.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...

A porcelain teapot with blue and reddish cornflowers amidst extensive gilding as well as gilding on parts of the lid and the body. 7 inches tall x 9/1/2 inches long x 4 ¾ inches wide.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very little wear to the gilding.

A cup and deep saucer in the bamboo pattern with an early printed Spode mark on the cup. The transfer design was applied over glaze by the “pluck and dust” method of transferring color followed by hand painting of the gilding. The color is referred to in the Spode literature as, “chestnut brown,” though this one has a reddish tint. Saucer 5 ½ inches diameter, cup 2 inches tall.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor gilding wear.

A pair of hand painted English porcelain dessert serving dishes, probably Spode, lozenge shaped with lobes and decorated with floral sprays and sprigs in bright colors with gilt scalloped border and gilt floral design in the apexes. No marks on the base, but this form with the elegant gilding in the apexes is ascribed to Spode and from early in the 19th century. Length 10 ¼, width 7 ¼ and height 2 inches.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Almost no wear.

A Staffordshire plate stenciled, cut sponge decorated and hand painted with the three rabbits, the frog, the clouds and grasses stenciled in brown in the center of the plate within a blue line, surrounded by hand painted red flowers, green leaves and blue cut sponge flowers contained within a red line on the rim. The rabbits in the yellow painted grass are fairly natural. The green painted frog less so...

A set of eight hand painted porcelain plates with scenic views as listed below. The lips with a peach ground and some gilding. Located in the center of each plate is the hand painted scene. The pattern number “833” and the location, painted in script in red enamel, is on the back of most of them. They were made and decorated in Britain, possibly Aynsley, circa 1880. 8 7/8 inches (20.3 cm) diameter.

Three plates with orange ground lip, transfer border on the edge of the well and the center hand painted with different complex bouquets of wild flowers. All have the Royal Worcester mark on the bottom with the date of 1877 below. Also, the number 9522/A (?) is written in overglaze enamel. The plates are 9 inches (23 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some gilding wear on the edges and minor scratches.

Stoneware jar in the form of an orange with the registry mark for F & R Pratt of Fenton for 1878 on the base. 4 inches (10.2 cm) tall and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide.

Condition: no chips cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor staining and some tiny areas of paint loss.

A stoneware dinner plate with a shaped edge transfer printed in light blue with an elaborate floral border on the lip and an equally elaborate alpine view with flowers and chalet in the well. On the back a floral cartouche with the title, “Genevese” in the center and “Opaque China” on the lower edge with a script capital “A.” This pattern was made by Minton with the letter “M,” this plate was probably made by them with a different letter. English circa 1830...

A hand painted porcelain plate with a dark blue ground on the lip with elaborate gilding that extends to the sides of the well. A view of Loch Leven from the shore painted in the center. No marks on the back except “Loch Leven” in dark red enamel script. 8 5/8 inches (22 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some minor scratches and the haziness of the painting could be caused by stacking wear.

A very well molded pitcher with floral decoration on each side, molded foot, lip and handle. Across the front of the pitcher and on either side of the neck are hand painted flowers, very much in the Adam’s Rose” style. This form of molded pitcher closely resembles those in porcelain of J. and R. Riley of Burslem. The body is very white, but isn’t porcelain. 8 3/8 inches (21.5 cm) to the top of the handle and approx. 6 ½ inches (16.5 cm) across the handle...

A large, heavily potted English pitcher with an applied strap handle. All of the strong floral decoration is handpainted except for the blue flowers which where the paint was stamped on with a cut sponge. Though it could be earlier the later date of circa 1880 is conservative...

A group of three Staffordshire plates. The first a small (6 ½ inch diameter) pearlware plate with good handpainted roses and a solid colored border with lines and dots. The second plate (8 3/8 inches diameter) also pearlware handpainted with a border of small roses, leaves and ovals over two lines. The third a ceramic plate with a shaped edge (10 1/8 inches diameter) with a very bold free hand painted single Adam’s rose dominating most of the area. All are unmarked...

Three plates with a blind molded basket weave border and swirled ribs the way Coalport molded plates in the early part of the 19th century. The hand painted flowers in a central bouquet and four single flowers on the lip are very much in the early Coalport style. The plates are 9 ¼ inches (23.5 cm) in diameter.

Conditon: no chips cracks, hairlines or repairs for two and the third with a spider in the center. The surface of all three has been scratched enough to be noticeable either by use ...

A blue transfer printed “Stone China” or ironstone dinner plate by John and William Ridgway, marked on the back with the pattern and ‘J. W. R.” 10 ¼ inches (26 cm) diameter. Gadroon edge and good clear printing in dark blue. Circa 1820.

Condition: No cracks or hairlines. Two chips to the foot ring and a minute flake to the glaze on the rim and one at the edge of the well. Very minor knife scratches.

A pair of porcelain dinner plates with molded basketweave edge and swirl ribbing with the lines extending into the well. Decorated with hand painted overglaze flowers and a gilt edge. The style closely resembles Meissen, but these are unmarked. The four ribs in four groups of four is identical with a plate pictured in Godden's book on Coalport that he dates from c. 1805 to 1810. 10 inches (23.5 cm) diameter. Unmarked.

A William Ridgway “Oriental” green transfer printed platter with a vaguely Middle Eastern fantasy scene in the well surrounded by a border of alternating floral bouquets and Middle Eastern buildings against a sprigged green ground. On the back the Ridgway mark of an urn and beehive over the subject name, “ORIENTAL.” and the initials, “WR.” printed in green. The initials for William Ridgway were used from 1830 to 1834. The platter is 14 ¾ inches (37.5 cm) long and 12 inches (30.5 cm)...
