Three metal martini glasses stamped on the bottom "MADE IN/HSIANG YUN CO./HANKOW." Hankow (Hankou) is part of the present day city of Wuhan. In the early 20th century the city contained five foreign concessions.

Possibly paktong or another base metal with a resemblance to silver, though it is considerably harder. 4 ¾ inches (12 cm) tall.

Condition: Made in two parts, one glass is slightly loose where the stem meets the bowl. Another has a low spot at the seam in the bowl...

A very nicely painted delicate porcelain cup, saucer and cup cover painted predominantly with carp but including a lobster and a couple of fish. All three pieces have elaborate painted borders. Gilding is used on the carp and the borders. The two handled cup is marked in red with a stamp, “CHINA” inside an oval. A hand painted porcelain Japanese bowl in the style of earlier Nabeshima high footed shallow bowls. The blue is painted underglaze and the green and brown are painted over the glaze in enamels. A creamware dinner plate with shaped edge, elaborate painted lattice border on the rim and good “Chinese scene” decoration to the body of the plate. Though it is unmarked it is almost certainly English from the late18th century. The color is deep cobalt blue and the execution very good. 10 inch (25.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Looks almost new with very little wear.

A tightly hooked rug, American, perhaps Amish, from the 1930’s. Wool on burlap with hand attached black cotton backing. 29 inches long by 22 inches wide. The unusual free hand pattern shows black stars with pale blue crosses in an integrated geometric pattern.

Condition: Overall excellent condition with one professional darned repair on the border between one star and cross (see close up image)...

Large folk art hooked cotton rug of a maroon horse outlined in black and with black hooves and tail trotting to the left against a tan ground with maroon corners and blue bands to enclose the horse. Some of the ground hooked in squares of different shades. Dots of brown for nose, eye and in the tail. 22 by 35 inches.

Condition: some wear and small losses around edges, stain at the edge above the horses head and below raised hoof...

Japanese porcelain high footed dish in the form of a late 17th century Nabeshima dish. This one is a fairly straight forward copy of one of a set of dishes at the Tokyo Museum depicting an old cherry tree with abundant blossoms, proably made sometime in the 20th century. Underglaze blue and overglaze enamels. 10 inches (25.5 cm) diameter and 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm) tall.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs.

A pair of globular small electric bedside lamps decorated with roses hand painted by Joseph Nekola Junior and sold by Plitchta, London. Joseph, the son of Karel Nekola an original decorator at Weymss, was taught by his father to paint the well know roses. After the original factory at Weymss closed the Bovey Pottery in Devon continued to make, “Weymss Ware” with Joseph the decorator and trainer of apprentices. Plitchta was a wholesaler and exporter.
