A tightly hooked rug, American, perhaps Amish, from the 1930’s. Wool on burlap with hand attached black cotton backing. 29 inches long by 22 inches wide. The unusual free hand pattern shows black stars with pale blue crosses in an integrated geometric pattern.

Large folk art hooked cotton rug of a maroon horse outlined in black and with black hooves and tail trotting to the left against a tan ground with maroon corners and blue bands to enclose the horse. A low covered pot with jug ear handles of tin glazed earthenware with underglaze blue decoration on either side and on the top depicting a house near water. These pots were used for soft cheese, sort of like cottage cheese if I understand correctly. The top is loose fitting but the raised lip of the pot fits into a channel in the top. 4 ¼ inches tall by 8 inches across handles. (10 x 20 cm).

Condition: Minor wear to the bottom...

A pair of candlesticks with a dark blue ground decorated with gilt insects and raised beaded rings. Though unmarked this is a color and decoration that was made by Masons from about 1815 to 1825. 8 inches tall and 5 inches diameter at the base. (20 cm tall and 13 cm diameter at base).

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Gilding wear around edges and some scratches around the base, probably from scraping off wax.

These are very elegant and no doubt the insects were painted ...

A very well designed and executed eight point Star of Bethlehem pieced cotton quilt with excellent quilting. The pieces around the edges are white with very small pale blue printed sprigs. The pieces for the star are all solid colors. The backing is printed green cotton in a small pattern. Quilted with feather wreaths in the corners and partial ones between the points of the stars. All of the sewing is done by hand. 72 inches square.

Condition: excellent with very minor wear and a few spots...

A transfer printed, hand colored and gilt large mug with Japanese inspired patterns on two sides, an elaborate decoration on the inside rim and a brown edge at the top. Blue printed mark on the bottom. The body is hand thrown, but the handle is molded. Circa 1820. 4 5/8 (12 cm) tall 5 1/8 (13 cm) diameter body, with handle 7 inches (18 cm) diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some scratches on the interior and some wear to the brown on the rim.
