This striking necklace, executed in the Hopi style, is actually the work of a gifted Navajo silversmith, Hyson Craig, who began working before 1975. Approximately 16"L, the rigid part is 5 1/2"W; drop: 2"x1 1/4", set with an oblong (tyrone mine?) turquoise 1 1/2"L. Listed in American Indian Jewellry I, by Gregory Schaf, p. 124. Unsigned, but unmistakably the work of Hubert Harmon, and priced accordingly as generic. This 1940's buckle, made of brass, consists of facing snake heads, set with green onyx eyes, from which three fish dangle from a center ring. Buckle: 7 1/2"W; fish: 1 3/4" (a tiny segment is missing from the tail of one fish) Signed simply "Mexico".
