Each plate has different scene taken from the original drawings of John Fredrick Herring Sen., 1795-1865.Herring studied under Abraham Cooper & Sawyer Gilpin, was appointed the animal apinter to the Dutchess of Kent and is recognized as one of the finest horse painters in history. For 33 successive years he painted the winners of the Derby & St. Leger. | ||
