REPUBLIC PERIOD ( 1912 - 1949 ) HONGXIAN NIAN ZHI IRON-RED FOUR-CHARACTER MARK ( 1912 - 1916 ). Painted in fine enamels with bamboo, prunus and birds - a well known motif during the Republican period, but never seen in such an excellent representation like on this pair of vases. H: 23,7 and 23,6 cm. Condition : Perfect. Provenance : Old south German collection.

A very large 19th. century hanging scroll with a life-size anchestor portrait. Excellently painted in ink and colour on silk, on paper. The rank insignia of a paradise flycatcher identifies the portrayed as a 9th. grade official. Size: The hanging scroll as the background of the portrait: 235 x 129,5 cm. The painting itself: 189 x 96 cm. Condition: The hanging scoll as the supporting body of the portrait cracked ( please look at the images )...

This thinly potted bowl stands out by its nice decoration, in particular by the delighful represented deer which is part of this decoration. Wonderful deep Cobalt blue. Ming Dynasty, Jiajing Period ( 1522 - 1566 ) Diameter : 11,1 cm. H: 5,4 cm. Condition : Perfect. There is a very very minute fritting to the rim which is quite normal for Jiajing pieces but there is no chip and no crack and there is a nice sound when tapped.

This marked, rare, fish decorated bowl comes from an old German colletion. The condition of the glaze of the bowl is so perfect and glossy that it simply is impossible that this bowl is an excavated piece. The glaze of this bowl is so much better than the glaze of excavated pieces so that this bowl must be an rare unearthed piece which already in very early times - maybe hundreds of years ago - came to Europe.
