There are two possibilities. Either this very nice Earthenware Jar with a molded - impressed decoration and glazed with an Sancai glaze is from the Tang Dynasty ( 618 - 906 ) and from Henan or Shaanxi ( Sancai). Or it is a piece from the Liao Dynasty ( 916 - 1125 ) Liaoning ( Sancai ). The weight of this Jar is very small.
This piece was coincidentally excavated many years ago in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia and later was venerated and used by local people for ceremonies.
So - Tang or Liao - please apologize for it that I cannot assign the piece more precisely.
H : 22,3 cm.
Condition : The body itself perfect. The neck with some old cracks and chipped. Some glaze degrading. Surprisingly since all the damage on the piece is old ( and somehow has already a patina ) this however does not disturb the charm of this very decorative piece.
