Late Meiji (1910s) ivory okimono of a crouching sumo wrestler leaning on his fists and getting ready to attack an opponent. Excellent concentrated and tranquil face, great sense of volume to his limbs and body. Old age lines, old chip to the side of his right foot. Signed YUKIMITSU in oval reserve on the belt on his belly. Very nice sculpture. Length 1 15/16 inches.
