Late 18th to early 19th century iron daisho set of 2 Japanese sword tsuba, both with pierced decoration of two dragons contesting the Precious Pearl. Daisho literally translates as DAI (large) and SHO (small) and can refer to any set of blades, koshirae, tsuba or other fittings which were made by the same maker or by the same school. 19th century unsigned bronze Japanese tsuba with honeycomb patterned surface on one side and fine flower pattern on the other, inlaid silver design along the width of the rim. Very nice design, pleasant feel of age, some malachite incrustation on the surface. Height 2 3/8 inches.

19th century small ivory netsuke of a sennin (Chinese sage) mobbed by four toads. For some unexplainable reason senninís face looks exactly like that of Lenin, although the netsuke is probably a humorous take on Gama sennin. Wonderful carving with great quality of facial expression and nice detailing - see the warty backs of the toads. Himotoshi (cord opening) goes under the belt on the back, old age lines. Very unusual 19th century ivory netsuke in a shape of a bird containing two compartments in its body: one for a seal, and the other for seal paste. 19th century stag antler/bone netsuke in a shape of Daikoku coming out of a bag of rice. Daikoku-ten is the God of wealth and farmers, and as such is usually associated with rice. Clever carving in Japanese taste, wonderful patina, beautiful etching. Natural blemishes to the material, porous center on top and bottom is plugged as is usual with this type of material, and plugs are carved as part of the netsuke.
