19th century Tibetan turned burlwood covered bowl used for sampa (powdered barley) -Tibetan staple food. Lacquered black on the inside, great patina on beautiful wood. Very pleasant piece with wonderful feel of age. Height with cover 3 3/8 inches, diameter 4 3/4 inches.

18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of Ganesha seated on a rat (his vehicle), and holding the elephant goad and battle-ax (parasu) in his rear hands, and sweetmeats in both front hands. Rare depiction of a common subject, great detail of the rat with its front paws in praying attitude. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, and thus is invoked before any new undertaking. 18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture depicting Lord Vishnu with characteristic sun disc and conch shell held in his upper hands. Vishnu is the preserver of the universe and the embodiment of truth, goodness and mercy. Cast in Karnataka state, very crisp casting and great detailing, beautiful dark brown patina. Appropriate wear on the face as to be expected on a more than 200 year old devotional piece. Height 1 15/16 inches.

19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of monkey god Hanuman with his hands in praying gesture in front of him, and his tail forming a loop behind him. Hanuman personifies ingenuity and faithfulness - his strength and courage helped Rama to defeat Ravana. Cast in Maharashtra, wonderful casting (see his body in strong S-shaped atibhanga flexion at the waist) and detailing, nice patina. Height 2 inches.

15/16th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of the Vaishnava saint Vedanta Desika (1269-1370), writer and philosopher, and one of the greatest successors of Ramanuja. Cast in Southern India, Vijayanagar period, 15/16th century. Delicate casting (see the detailing of face and his right hand in vitarka mudra), characteristic hat with spiral arrangement on the back, beautiful patina. Height 1 1/4 inches.

Rather rare 18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of Shatrughna with his raised right hand holding a flywhisk. Rare icon. Shatrughna was half-brother of Rama (they shared Dasharatha as father), and thus also inherited Vishnu’s divinity. Excellent casting and detailing, great patina, beautifully worn on the face as to be expected on a 200 year old devotional piece. Height 3 1/16 inches.

Pleasantly chunky and heavy excellent piece, highly detailed, superb depiction of his rich jewelry. Beautiful wear to the areas that were touched during worship, very nice feel of age.
