15th century Vietnamese white stoneware covered box with underglaze blue painting on the cover from Hoi An hoard, a historic sunken ship off Cu Lao Cham, central Vietnam. The box was made at Chu Dau in the Red River Delta, and was part of a cargo bound for the South-East Asia (Sumatra, Java or Borneo). The wreck was found in the mid-90's, the ceramics were taken to the surface, and sold by Butterfields in San Francisco. 15th century small Vietnamese white stoneware jar with underglaze blue painting. The jar comes from an old Japanese collection, and must have been part of a sunken ship cargo. It is very similar to Hoi An material lifted off Cu Lao Cham, central Vietnam. Beautiful bubbly glaze with fine crackle, central register with excellent free painting of alternating playful birds and clumps of bamboo grass. 12th century Khmer bronze statue of dancing Gandharva from Cambodia. Gandharvas in Hinduism are male nature spirits and husbands of Apsaras. They are gifted with song and dance, proficient as warriors and make beautiful music in the palaces of the gods. Excellent casting and detailing - see his face, elegantly bent hands and elaborate headdress. Beautiful patina and wear, overall in superb condition. . Fixed on a wooden stand. Height of the statue 4 3/4 inches, height with stand 6 1/4 inches.

12th century Khmer bronze statue of standing 4-armed Vishnu from Cambodia. The implements in his upper hands are a conch shell and a wheel. Excellent casting and detailing - see his face with expression of quiet concentration, elaborate jewelry, loin cloth and butterfly shaped fitting on the back. Beautiful patina and wear, overall in superb condition, fixed on a wooden stand. Height of the statue 5 1/2 inches, height with stand 6 3/4 inches.

17th century or earlier Thai bronze head of Buddha mounted on a wooden stand. Excellent casting, beautiful patina with green incrustation on the surface and devotional wear. Wonderful expression of quiet concentration on Buddha’s face, loss to its headdress. Height of the head 1 3/4 inches, height with stand 3 5/8 inches.

17th century Indonesian metal earring from Sulavesi. The metal is rather soft, and may be either pure silver or pewter - I am not sure. Wonderful work, beautiful surface with great feel of age, pleasantly heavy. Height 1 11/16 inches. The piece comes from the collection of Samuel Eilenberg - tags attached - a world-renowned mathematician and a legendary collector.
