Japanese copper bowl by the Japanese master metalsmith Hiroshi Suzuki. All lighter areas are reflections from photography. Will work perfectly as a tea ceremony object. It is made by hammering a chunk of copper, raising it and giving it shape - no casting is involved. Fantastic clean gently curving organic form with beautifully hammered surface and superb patina on the inside of dark brown turning black. The shape is subtly erotic, very pleasant to the touch. Stunning contemporary object...
