19th century Japanese bronze / brass page turner with engraved blade and multimetal handle. The front on the handle depicts a man with an open umbrella and a lantern walking under a tree with 2 birds perched on its branches. The back of the handle shows blooming chrysanthemums supported by bamboo poles, and a dragonfly seated on the top of one pole. Rather unusual and amuzing good size Japanese Arita porcelain plate with enamel decoration of two rats wearing kimonos and pulling a strand of seaweed with Japanese coins out of the shallow stream, with a rake and reeds nearby. Very nice potting (2 openings in the rim on the back for hanging), excellent quality delightful painting - see see freedom in the depiction of curling waves, in perfect condition. Excellent quality painting, skilled use of gold, green, tomato red, yellow and white enamels. Marked in blue enamel on the bottom with a mountain and inscribed FUKAGAWA TSUKURU (made in Fukagawa). Excellent potting, superb quality painting. Signed in underglaze blue on the bottom DAI NIHON EIRAKU ZO for one of the later generations of potters from the eiraku line.
