19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of monkey god Hanuman with his hands in praying gesture in front of him, and his tail forming a loop behind him. Hanuman personifies ingenuity and faithfulness - his strength and courage helped Rama to defeat Ravana. Cast in Maharashtra, wonderful casting (see his body in strong S-shaped atibhanga flexion at the waist) and detailing, nice patina. Height 2 inches.

19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of seated Ganesha with his trunk to its left, and holding the elephant goad and battle-ax (parasu) in his rear hands, and sweetmeats in both front hands. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, and thus is invoked before any new undertaking. 19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of Rukmini - a consort of Vitthali, who is regarded as a form of Vishnu or Krishna. His name means “standing on a brick”, he is usually shown in characteristic stance with his hands on his hips, he is also known as Vithoba or Panduranga, and is worshipped in particular in Pandharpur, not far from Bombay. 19th century Japanese sword menuki of a walking peasant with two objects - one in his back, the other in his hands, currently mounted as a pin and a pendant. Very clever design, superb detailing - see his face, silver socks, shakudo pants, and the coat inlaid with gold, silver, shakudo and copper squares. The material of the back, the clasp and swinging pendant loop appears to be silver. Height 1 15/16 inches.
