19th century ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) of simple ball shape made out of ivory stained grass green. Nice patina on the surface, pleasant wear. Height 9/16 inches.

19th century Edo period (before 1867) Japanese porcelain Hirado plate with scalloped edge and underglaze blue decoration of a dragon in pursuit of Tama (sacred pearl). Excellent potting, milky white body and clear glaze. Great early painting with charming freedom, wonderful dynamic design - see the flames issuing from the body of the dragon. Some surface wear as to be expected, overall in great condition. Diameter 7 1/4 inches.

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1910s) Japanese porcelain Hirado plate with underglaze blue and red decoration of 3 boys making a snowman in a form of Zen Buddhism patriarch Daruma. Wonderful potting, fantastic quality freehand painting, in excellent condition. Signed on the bottom HAKUZAN SEISEI (finely made by Hakuzan). Diameter 5 7/8 inches.

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1910s) Japanese porcelain Hirado yusamashi with underglaze blue decoration of scholars playing the game of GO on a low table, accompanied by attendant boys. Yusamashi resembles European creamer in shape, and is used to add cold water to tea in order to bring it to comfortable drinking temperature. Rather unusual 19th century Chinese soapstone seal carved on the top with two seated scholar wearing traditional robes, their hands on what appears to be a fisherman’s basket. Excellent carving, beautiful patina and obvious wear attesting to the age of the object. The bottom is carved with four sunken characters in two cartouches and can be translated as HALL FOR CULTIVATION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, red seal paste in the grooves. 19th century (may be as early as 18th) small Chinese devotional bronze Buddhist figure wearing a monk’s robe and holding a bowl in front of it. Judging by the bowl, the figure represents Bhaiṣajyaguru - a medicinal Buddha. Very nicely mold cast figure of a type used on house altars, beautiful devotional wear, compressed dust in crevices. Height 2 1/8 inches.

19th century wooden netsuke of a crled cat falling asleep on a fan with its toys (a gourd and a ring on a string) next to it. Wonderfully captured mood of the scene, beautifully carved - see the detailing of its fur, knot of its collar, string texture and bamboo nodes on the fan. Great wear and patina, very pleasant to the touch. Length 2 inches.
