| Original 1627 etching by Jacques Callot L'ENTREE DE MONSIEUR LE PRINCE DE PFALTZBOURG from LE COMBAT A LA BARRIERE, Lieure catalog number 576, the only state. From a series of 10 etchings by Callot to commemorate a tournament sponsored by Charles IV of Lorraine in honor of the Duchess de Chevreuse. The print depicts chariots and processions for one of the participants - the Prince of Pfaltzbourg. Rare, strong clear impression, on laid paper, trimmed outside the plate, in excellent condition. Framed and glazed, gold leaf printed frame with archival mat and den glass. Lines seen on glass in Enlargement 6 are from photography, not cracks or defects. Paper size 155 x 240 mm (6 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches), frame size 17 1/2 x 19 3/4 inches. Provenance: William H. Schab Gallery, New York; estate of William A.
