19th century Chinese Canton enamel footed wine cup of round section with flaring mouth painted on the outside in polychrome enamels with three sprays of different flowers and grasses. Inside has another spray in the cavetto, and five bats in flight among clouds around the rim. Superb quality painting with famille rose colors, in great condition - all dark spots are original pitting marks, no cracks, losses or stress lines. Marked on the bottom in red enamel with characters SHAN (to award, to praise) and SIN (heart). The mark is recorded - see CHINESE PAINTED ENAMELS IN STATE HERMITAGE COLLECTION, p. 260.
