19th century netsuke of three fighting blind men recognizable by the bumps on their heads. Wonderful carving with a lot of detailing, including differently patterned clothing, excellent faces, multiple items such as cane, clogs and tobacco pouches (nice touch - clasp of a tobacco pouch of the man on the ground is inlaid with metal). Beautiful wear and patina. Signed RYOKO in rectangular reserve on the bottom - for information on this carver from the school of Ono Ryomin see p. 882 of NETSUKE & NETSUKE & INRO ARTISTS AND HOW TO READ THEIR SIGNATURES by George Lazarnick.
