| Very delightful and unusual 1920s stoneware tokkuri - sake bottle - with glazed body and enameled decoration of flowering daisies among vines and grasses. Very pleasing squared shape with horizontal ribbing, typical Japanese spiral finish to the unglazed recessed bottom. Excellent quality painting with thick application of enamel, great design in Japanese taste. Wonderful crackle to the glaze. Clay appears to be of Banko type, stamped with a seal of a potter in oval reserve on the body above the foot on the bottom. Overall in excellent condition. Height 5 3/4 inches. The piece comes from a small East Coast collection. | ||
