| 19th century bamboo seal netsuke carved on the top with seated one-horned kirin with its mouth open wide. Photographs came out too harsh. Very expert carving, great sense of volume, wonderfully captured facial expression. Warm patina, beautiful texture to the material, traces of seal paste in the grooves on the bottom. Himotoshi is formed by the front paws of the beast. Enlargement 5 shows the photo of the bottom flipped left to right, so the seal can be read. Height 1 9/16 inches. | ||
