| The Arcobaleno (rainbow) series was produced in 1956, and is documented in Carl Gables' MURANO MAGIC and Rosa Barovier Mentastis' ANZOLO FUGA. This rare and amazing creation by Anzolo Fuga is a unique and important 20th century design. The Arcobaleno is characterized by applied vertical stripes to the vessels body and a single large murrine at the base, magnified by the solid convex base. The murrine exhibits a kinetic effect as it is magnified by the curve of the base. Notable is the two blowpipe construction and the resulting delicate balance of the two forms. As a glassblower, I can attest to the amazing skill required to assemble and balance the two forms while the glass is hot and moving. This modernist expression illustrates the extraordinary abilities that the Muranese glassblowers possess in achieving artistic expression using hot glass. The Arcobaleno is 19" tall and in very good condition. The high/low estimate at Wright is $10,000-$15,000. | ||
