A finely crafted Japanese monkey head that sets down on the monkey's body in such a way that it moves in a nodding manner. The figure is Banko ware pottery, and there is a very worn, unreadable marking on the bottom. This is a comical monkey in that he is holding a lighted pipe in one hand and a sake bottle in the other hand, and on the bottle in says "hino yo gin" which translates to "watch out for the open fire"...
